Juniata’s Beta Beta Beta Honor Society will host the college’s fifth annual campus-wide research symposium on April 6 and 7. A total of 47 research presentations will be made from students across a variety of academic disciplines. The research projects were all conducted through cooperative research with faculty members during the course of the 2000-2001 school year.

The research symposium is free of charge and open to the public.

On Friday, April 6, oral presentations will run from noon to 4:45 p.m. in Room A201 in the Brumbaugh Science Center on the Juniata College campus. On Saturday, April 7, oral presentations will continue at the same location from 9 to 11:45 a.m. There are 22 oral presentations scheduled.

A poster presentation is scheduled for Saturday from 12:30 to 4:45 p.m. in the lobby of the Kennedy Sports and Recreation Center. Students will make presentations in three successive sessions lasting an hour and 15 minutes. The presentations are organized in three categories: environmental science, chemistry/physics, and biology/psychology. There are 25 poster presentations.

Tri-Beta, the honorary society for biology, has organized the exhibit to highlight the quality of student research at Juniata. There are about 70 members in the Juniata College chapter of Beta Beta Beta.

An additional goal of the symposium is to increase awareness of the research opportunities at Juniata to the alumni, prospective students, and the public at large.
