Huntingdon, PA - Juniata College senior guard Jeff Lau (York Catholic/Glen Rock) was named to the MAC Basketball Honor Roll for his efforts for the Eagle basketball team this past week. Along with players of the week for the Commonwealth and Freedom Conference, the MAC selects three additional players as honor roll recipients each week.

Lau led Juniata to a 2-1 week by averaging 19.3 points, seven rebounds, 2.3 assists and two steals per game during the week. In Juniata's lone loss of the weekâ??a triple-overtime loss to conference foe Moravianâ??Lau matched his season high with 21 points and grabbed a career-high nine rebounds. This followed Lau scoring 19 points, grabbing seven rebounds and passing out three assists in Juniata's win over conference foe Messiah. He also scored 18 points and had five rebounds in a non-conference win over LaRoche to start the week. He scored 58 points in the three games, while shooting 48 percent from the field.

"Jeff is having a wonderful senior year," Eagle coach Greg Curley stated. "He has made all the big shots we've needed this season and has also really taken on a leadership role. Jeff has a great confidence about himself and his game this season, and there's no question he's one of the best guards in our conference."

Lau has made contributions all over the court for Juniata. Through 21 games he ranks second on the team in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots, and is third among Juniata players in assists and steals. He is averaging 12.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game good for 12th and 19th best in the conference. He has scored in double figures 15 times on the season, including Juniata's last nine games. Over that nine-game stretch he has averaged nearly 16 points and five rebounds per game, and Juniata is 6-3 over those nine games.

With Lau stepping up, Juniata is in the hunt for its first conference postseason berth since the 1988-89 season. Through 21 games, the Eagles are 12-9 overall and are tied for fourth in the Commonwealth Conference with a record of 5-5. The top four teams in the standings earn a spot in the conference postseason. Juniata has already secured double-digit wins for the fourth consecutive season, something the Juniata College men's basketball program hasn't achieved since the mid 1950s. Juniata will play conference opponent Elizabethtown on the road Wednesday night.
