HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The seventh annual Juniata College Eagle Expo Internship Fair will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Juniata?s Ellis College Center Ballroom.

Sponsored by the Career and Community Service Offices, this is a results-oriented event designed to bring Juniata students together with employers from business, industry, and public service in one convenient location, at one convenient time, to discuss student internship possibilities for the upcoming summer or the 2004-2005 school year.

About 225 Juniata students complete internships each year. Some internships earn students college credits, while others are non-credit, paid or unpaid. Internships offer students the chance to gain experience in professional settings, while businesses or organizations receive assistance with their workloads.

Internships also help ease students? transition from the classroom into their chosen profession before and after graduation, while providing the opportunity to apply classroom concepts and theories to the realities of an on-the-job experience.
Darwin Kysor, director of career services, says, ?With a strong liberal arts background, our students have valuable skills to contribute to a variety of businesses.?

Approximately 35 organizations will be in attendance at this fair. Some of the participating employers are: The Arc of Centre County, American Red Cross, The Bair Foundation, Blair Care Centers, Camp Blue Diamond, Fort Roberdeau Historic Site, Greater Huntingdon Chamber of Commerce, Greenwood Furnace State Park, The Grier School, The Hancock Group, Inc., Huntingdon County Visitors Bureau, Juniata College Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (JCEL), Juniata College Enrollment Center, Lake Raystown Resort & Lodge, PA Mountain Service Corps/AmeriCorps, Professional Recyclers of PA (PROP), SCI ? Huntingdon, SCI ? Smithfield, and the United Way of Huntingdon.

Businesses or organizations that have not registered and would like to participate in this event are asked to contact the Juniata College Office of Career Services at 641-3350 for more information.
