HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Two Juniata seniors will perform a Student Recital featuring classical selections featuring horn and cello at 6 p.m., Friday, April 15 at the Fifteenth Street United Methodist Church in Huntingdon.

The concert is free and open to the public.

Anne Staudenmaier, a senior from Harrisburg, Pa. studying biology and English, will open the concert playing "Sonata for Two Horns," by Otto Nikolai. Rebekah Obrien, a lecturer in music at Juniata, will accompany Staudenmaier. Nikolai is best known for his opera "The Merry Wives of Windsor."

Staudenmaier will then go solo on the selection "Fantasy for Horn," by English composer Malcolm Arnold. Arnold based part of this selection on an English sailing tune.

Matthew Scott, a senior from Sunderland, Mass. studying biochemistry, will perform "Suite in G Major," by Johann Sebastian Bach. Bach wrote six suites for unaccompanied cello and this "Suite No. 1" is familiar to many through its use in films, commercials and television soundtracks. Perhaps most recently, the selection was used as a plot point in the drama "The West Wing," performed by Yo Yo Ma.
