Complete 2011 Juniata Invitational results

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Track and field had eight first place finishes in the 2011 Juniata Track and Field Invitational, on Saturday afternoon at the Oller Track at Knox Stadium.

Juniata's success in the field events included Nick Bauer's (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) win in the men's long jump (21-2 3/4) and Jeremy Hays' (McMechen, W.Va./John Marshall) first place finish in the high jump (5-11 1/2). Justin Clapper (Buffalo Mills, Pa./Bedford) was second in the pole vault (12-11 1/2).

For the women's field events, Stephanie Varner (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) and Lauren Taylor (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) tied for first place in the pole vault (10-0). Kristyn Ginter (Tyrone, Pa./Bellwood-Antis) grabbed second place in the javelin throw (113-3). Angela Shaffer (Prospect, Pa./Slippery Rock) was second in both the triple jump (33-6) and the high jump (5-3 3/4).

Highlights on the track for the women included Shaffer's win in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.61 and Alyssa Grube's (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) top finish in the 800m (2:27.26). Katrina Woods (Shirleysburg, Pa./Mount Union) finished first in the 1500m (4:59.39) while Caroline Morgan (Havertown, Pa./Haverford Township) followed for second place (5:09.31).

Junior Jess Koenig (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) finished first for the Eagles in the 3000m (10:53.93) while Woods came in behind her at 11:08.10.

Megan McQuillan (Severna Park, Md./Seton Keough) finished second in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 12:05.91. Erika Brown (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) finished the 200m dash in 28.23 for second place.

On the men's side, Ross Black (Altoona, Pa./Tyrone) finished second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 18.31.

Juniata men's and women's track and field continues with the outdoor season next Saturday, April 9, at the Messiah Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.
