MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD: Apr. 13 at Bucknell Invitational.
Juniata hosted the annual Blue & Gold Invitational on Saturday and placed second on the day. The Eagles tallied 153 points to take the runner-up spot in the field of five teams. Messiah won the men's title with 238 points. Junior Dusty Lehr (Bermudian Springs/New Oxford), who earlier in the week automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field championship in the decathlon at the College of New Jersey with 6,477 points, placed first on Saturday in the 110-meter high hurdles (14.80) and the pole vault (14' 0"). He was also fourth in the discus (103' 9") and the javelin (141' 6"). Freshman Jeremy Weber (Garden Spot/Mohnton) earned the top spot in the long jump (21' 5"). Junior Nick Wolfe (McConnellsburg/McConnellsburg) hit the tape first in the 400-meter run (51.53) and was third in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles (61.30), while senior Ben Cole (Lakeland/Carbondale) was the winner of the shot put (42' 0"). Junior Noah Fredette (Weedsport/Weedsport, NY) placed first in the 800 meters (2:00.96), while junior Scott Shacreaw (Blairsville/Blacklick) took top honors in the javelin (176' 2") and was fourth in the shot put (38' 1 ½"). Freshman Ben Beas (Kiski Prep/Johnstown) was first in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles (58.68) and was third in the 110-meter high hurdles (16.27). The 4x100-meter relay team for Juniata placed first (43.56), while the 4x400-meter unit was second (3:34.93).

WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD: Apr. 13 at Bucknell Invitational.
The Eagles hosted the annual Blue & Gold Invitational on Saturday and placed second. Juniata was the runner-up in the field of six squads with 126 points, while Messiah won women's crown (166). Sophomore Stefanie Rynkewitz (Lewistown/Lewistown) placed first in the 400-meter run (62.22) and was third in the 200 meters (28.13). Freshman Kira Troutman (Line Mountain/Valley View) earned the top spot in the javelin (128' 2"), third in the shot put (31' 2 ¼") and was fourth in both the 100-meter high hurdles (18.09) and the high jump (4' 8"). Freshman Lynzee Alsworth (Allegheny-Clarion Valley/Parker) placed first in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles (70.02), while senior Jenni Anderson (Dubuque/Dubuque, IA) was first in the discus (105' 10"). Sophomore Juliana Hillegass (Shanksville-Stonycreek/Shanksville) was third in the 400 meters (66.11) and fourth in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles (79.24), while senior Toni Yorks (Indian Valley/Burnham) took fourth in the same race (66.83). Freshman Stephanie Wasylyk (Honesdale/Uniondale) was second in the pole vault (8' 0"). Junior Cheryn Courtney (Mercer/Mercer) was third in the discus (99' 3"). Junior Michele Palmer (Littlestown/Littlestown) was fourth in the 3,000-meter run (11:39.10). The 4x100-meter relay squad for the Eagles placed third (53.62), while the 4x400-meter relay unit took second in 4:24.44.

MEN'S TENNIS (1-7, 0-4 MAC Commonwealth): Apr. 10 at Widener; Apr. 13, Elizabethtown.
Juniata went 0-3 on the week. On Monday, the Eagles fell at home to Albright, 7-0, in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth League action. On Wednesday, Juniata entertained Penn State-Altoona, but dropped a 6-1 count to the Cougars. Freshman David Bullock (Central Bucks East/Jamison) was a two-time winner on the day. He earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory at second singles and teamed up with senior Ethan Gibbel (Warwick/Lititz) for an 8-2 pro-set triumph in their second doubles outing. On Saturday, Juniata journeyed to Lebanon Valley and suffered a 6-1 setback in MAC Commonwealth play. Bullock got his second singles win of the week with a hard-fought, 3-6, 6-4 (11-9) victory at third singles.

BASEBALL (11-12, 5-7 Commonwealth): Apr. 10 at Penn State-Altoona (2); Apr. 12 at Albright;
Apr. 13, Albright (2).
Juniata pounded out 14 hits, including 12 after the fifth inning and got a complete-game pitching performance from junior Steve Brink (Central Columbia/Nescopeck) during an 8-2 victory over visiting Messiah on Tuesday in Commonwealth Conference action. On the mound, Brink threw all nine innings, scattered seven hits, allowed two earned runs (both scored in the fourth inning), walked one and struck out five. Senior right fielder Lucas Kelleher (Bishop Guilfoyle/Altoona) was 3 for 5 with two runs scored on the day for Juniata, while senior first baseman Tim Dobson (Millville/Millville, NJ) went 2 for 4 with two runs scored, a stolen base, four RBI and a home run. In addition, senior designated hitter Tim Keeley (Caledonia-Mumford/Caledonia, NY) was 2 for 3 and scored once, while senior catcher Matt Slagel (Spring Grove/Spring Grove) went 1 for 4 with a double, a run scored and two RBI, and sophomore center fielder Kodi Hockenberry (Red Land/Lewisberry) was 2 for 4 and scored one time. Widener gave up 19 hits and 11 runs and still got a victory over visiting Juniata in Commonwealth play on Thursday, 20-11, in a slugfest. The two teams combined for 38 hits and 31 runs on the day. Kelleher was 5 for 5 with a double, a run scored and two RBI. Freshman left fielder Matt Garner (Bellwood-Antis/Bellwood) was 2 for 5 with a triple, three RBI and a run scored. Dobson was 2 for 5 with a home run, one RBI and a run scored. Freshman third baseman Adrian Huber (Middletown/Middletown) went 2 for 5, knocked in a pair and scored once. On Saturday, Juniata split a doubleheader with Widener in conference action, losing the first, 9-4, but winning the second, 8-5. In the initial tilt, Garner was 3 for 4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Keeley was 2 for 3 with a double and knocked in a run. Kelleher was 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored. In the nightcap, the Eagles came back from a 4-0 deficit to post the three-run triumph. Keeley started on the mound and threw five innings to get his first win of the year. He allowed four earned runs, six hits, two walks and he struck out two. Senior Clint Wevodau (Northern Lebanon/Annville) tossed the final 1 2/3 innings to get his second save of the year. Offensively, Dobson went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and three RBI. He had a triple and a home run as well. His round-tripper, the eighth of the year for Dobson, was a three-run blast in the sixth that moved him into a tie for first place on the all-time home run list at Juniata (24). Keeley was 2 for 4 with an RBI as well. Kelleher had one hit in four at-bats, scored a run and plated two runners. He also had a stolen base.

SOFTBALL (8-8, 1-1 Commonwealth): Apr. 10 at Lycoming (2); Apr. 13, Moravian (2).
The Eagles split their fifth consecutive doubleheader on Tuesday by dropping the first game at Gettysburg College, 5-0, before coming back to take the nightcap, 7-3. Sophomore catcher Sarah Patterson (Danville/Danville) was 1 for 2 with a triple, while freshman second baseman Allison D'Ambrosia (State College/Boalsburg) was 1 for 3 in the opener. In the second tilt, sophomore Amy Gable (Kennard-Dale/Stewartstown) got the win for Juniata and improved to 2-3 on the year. She allowed seven hits, three earned runs and walked nine. She got run support in the first two innings as the Eagles scored a pair of runs in the first and the second. Juniata then added a run in the third for a 5-3 lead. Gable helped her own cause by going 3 for 4 at the plate with one run scored and two RBI. She had a double and a stolen base as well. Senior shortstop Brandy Preslovich (Bald Eagle Area/Moshannon) was 2 for 3 with two doubles, one run scored and three RBI. Juniata posted its sixth consecutive doubleheader split of the year on Thursday. The Eagles traveled to Dickinson for a non-conference twin bill and took the first game, 12-3, before giving up the second tilt, 10-6, after battling back to tie it at 6-6 in the top of the sixth frame. In the opener, senior pitcher Christie Matthews (South Williamsport/South Williamsport) went the distance to get the win and gave up just two earned runs. She scattered 10 hits throughout the Red Devil line up, walked none and struck out five. Offensively for the Eagles, sophomore first baseman Becky Herr (Hamburg/Hamburg was 3 for 4 with one run scored, while Preslovich went 3 for 5, scored a run, knocked in three and had a double and a stolen base. Junior center fielder Pam Michael (Baldwin/Pittsburg) had three hits in four at-bats with two RBI and two runs scored, while Patterson was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. In the second tilt, Juniata trailed, 6-2, entering the sixth inning but struck for four runs, including three unearned to tie it. However, Dickinson came right back in the bottom of the frame for four runs. Preslovich was 2 for 4 with a pair of runs scored for Juniata, while Gable was 2 for 3 and touched home plate once.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL (8-13, 5-9 EIVA Tait): Apr. 10 at East Stroudsburg.
Penn State remained perfect for the year in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Tait Division with a 30-18, 30-22, 30-24 victory over host Juniata on Tuesday. The Nittany Lions were ranked fifth in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I Poll, while Juniata was rated third in the latest Division III poll. The Eagles were held to just .179 hitting and were out dug, 33-11, out-blocked, 10-6 and out-killed, 42-39. Juniata sophomore outside hitter Ryan Genova (Antietam/Reading) had 10 kills, one dig and one block to pace his squad. Junior outside hitter Neil Lukas (Fairport/Fairport, NY) had nine kills and two digs, while junior middle hitter Luke Manion (North Allegheny/Pittsburgh) had seven kills, one error and 11 attempts for a .545 hitting percentage. Manion also had four blocks (one solo). Junior setter Scott Kofmehl (North Allegheny/Pittsburgh) had 25 assists, four kills and three blocks on the night. On Saturday, Juniata lost at New York University in the EIVA Division III semifinals, 26-30, 30-26, 30-25, 34-32. Lukas had 20 kills, a .500 hitting percentage, six digs and one ace. Sophomore opposite Javier Garcia (San Ignacio/Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) posted 19 kills, four digs and one block. Genova added in 12 kills, four digs and one rejection, while Kofmehl registered 50 assists, four digs, one kill and one rejection. Lukas was named to the all-tournament team for his performance at NYU. New York went on to win the team title on Sunday with a 3-1 victory over Springfield.
