HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The second-ranked Juniata College women's volleyball team required just an hour and 15 minutes to dispose of a pesky Carnegie Mellon squad, 3-0, in Friday night's opening game of the 2007 Wid Guisler Invitational, at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center in Huntingdon, Pa. Game scores were 30-16, 30-20, 30-22. Carnegie Mellon (15-11) pulled even with Juniata at several points during the match, but never gained enough of a lead to threaten to take a game off the Eagles. Junior Erin Albert (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) led the Eagles with 14 kills, while Amber Thomas (Ephrata, Pa./Conestoga Valley) chipped in with 11 kills. Megan Sollenberger (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) paced the Eagles defensively with 23 digs, with Jessica Ritchey (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) also bringing up 11 digs. Beth Kozak (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingd.on Area) had 47 assists to go with her 12 digs on the night. Juniata (26-3, 6-0 Landmark) continues play in the Wid Guisler Invitational on Friday night, when it hosts seventh-ranked University of La Verne (Calif.) at 8:00 p.m -30-
