BRIDGEWATER, State - Senior forward Kim Wagner (Middletown, Pa./Middletown) logged a hat trick to lead Juniata College to a 5-0 win over Bridgewater College, in field hockey action Thursday afternoon in Bridgewater, Va. All five Juniata goals were scored in the first half. Wagner's three-goal performance was her second of the season; she also tallied one assist, to finish the night with seven points. Wagner put Juniata on the scoreboard early, notching her first goal just 1:48 into the game, then adding a second goal just 30 seconds later to give the 13th-ranked Eagles a 2-0 lead. Leslie Stern (Felton, Pa./Red Lion) assisted on Wagner's first goal, while Erin Smith (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) assisted on the second. Michelle Campbell (Annville, Pa./Northern Lebanon) expanded the Eagle lead to 3-0 with her goal off an assist from Heather Hassinger (Middleburg, Pa./Middleburg) with 22:00 left in the opening frame. Ashleigh Ehnts (Glenside, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) scored her first goal of the season with 7:33 left in the first half, with Wagner getting credit for the assist. Wagner then closed out the scoring and completed the hat trick with 3:15 left in the half, with Hassinger getting her second assist of the game. Juniata (15-2, 4-1 Landmark) outshot Bridgewater 27-6, and had a 6-3 advantage in penalty corners. All three Juniata goalies saw action in the victory, with Abby Funk (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) getting the start and the win. She recorded one save while playing in the first half; Denalyn Spratt (Haddon Heights, N.J./Haddon Heights) and Moira Nugent (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter Strasburg) split duties in the second half. Bridgewater goalie Elizabeth Sullivan played all 70 minutes, turning aside 13 Juniata shots. Juniata returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 21, when they face Kenyon College in a neutral site game being played at Slippery Rock University. -30-
