HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Juniata College men\'s tennis team was unable to bounce back from its first conference loss as the Eagles suffered a 9-0 loss at the hands of defending Commonwealth Conference champion Messiah College. Juniata dropped to 3-3 on the year and 2-2 in the conference while the visiting Falcons improved to 9-2 and 4-0 in conference action. Juniata could not solve the Messiah players in singles or doubles action. In the doubles outings Jau Feixas (University of Barcelona/Barcelona, Spain) and Jonathan Skoner (Central Catholic/Pittsburgh) hung in at their third doubles match before falling 9-7. Brandon Long (Lebanon/Lebanon) and Jarrad Silver (Walt Whitman/Bethesda, Md.) suffered an 8-1 set-back at first doubles, while Aaron Rhodes (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) and Casey Chew (Phoenixville/Phoenixville) dropped an 8-0 decision at second doubles. Things did not go much better for Juniata in singles action as Skoner was the only Juniata player to force a third set. The sophomore rallied after dropping the first set of his first singles match, but was slowed in set three eventually falling 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. Silver was defeated 6-1, 6-1 at second singles, while Ryan Navarro (Bishop Guilfoyle/Altoona) was stopped 6-1, 6-3 at third singles. Long forced a first-set tiebreaker at fourth singles but was defeated 7-6, 6-2. Rhodes lost 6-4, 6-1 at fifth singles and Chew fell by a 6-1, 6-3 score at the sixth position. Juniata will return to action on Wednesday as the Eagles try to halt their two-match slide against Saint Francis University. ###
