HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Juniata College men\'s tennis team had its early-season two-match winning streak snapped as the Eagles suffered a 9-0 loss to non-conference opponent Grove City College Saturday afternoon. Juniata (2-1) was unable to earn victories in any singles or doubles match, and took just one set from Grove City (6-1) on the day. Aaron Rhodes (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) was the one Eagle to win a set in singles action as he won the first set of his fourth position singles match before dropping the next two sets and an overall score of 4-6, 6-1, 10-1. No other singles player was able to win more than two games in a set against the Wolverines. Jonathan Skoner (Central Catholic/Pittsburgh) suffered a 6-1, 6-0 loss at first singles. Ryan Navarro (Bishop Guilfoyle/Altoona) dropped a 6-0, 6-2 match at second singles. Jarrad Silver (Walt Whitman/Bethesda, Md.) lost 6-3, 6-0 at third singles. Brian Sykes (Gateway Regional/Woodburry Heights, N.J.) fell 6-0, 6-2 at fifth singles and Derek Dye (Beall/Frostburg, Md.) dropped his sixth singles match by scores of 6-1, 6-2. The teams of Silver and Rhodes and Skoner and Navarro each suffered 8-2 losses at first and second doubles respectively. Dyke and Sykes lost by an 8-1 score at third doubles. Juniata will return to the courts on Wednesday when the Eagles host Frostburg State in a non-conference match. ###
