CLEVELAND, Ohio â?? The Juniata College menâ??s basketball team couldnâ??t capitalize on a fast start, losing 77-64 to host Case Western Reserve University in the consolation game of the 2006 Bill Sudeck Holiday Tournament. The Eagles hit their first four shots â?? all layups â?? in jumping out to an 8-0 lead after two minutes. They couldnâ??t keep the hot shooting going, however, posting a 38 percent mark for the game. Juniata did hit seven of its 18 three-point attempts, but converted just 17 of 46 shots from two-point range. Aaron Chamberlain (Tussey Mountain/Wood) paced the Eagles with 16 points, including four of seven triples. Chris Jasiota (Oil City/Oil City) joined him in double figures with 12. Brian Cannon (Fallston/Fallston, Md.) added nine points and nine rebounds. Chamberlainâ??s strong performance, which included three steals, landed him on the All-Tournament Team. Case Western Reserveâ??s Mason Conrad poured in 22 points to lead all scorers, and Steve Young added 15. After Juniataâ??s strong start, Case Western Reserve scored the next ten points. The two teams traded the lead back and forth for most of the first half, before the host Spartans scored the final nine points to take a 40-30 lead into the locker room. Chamberlain scored the first five points of the second half, but Juniata wouldnâ??t get any closer the rest of the way. The Eagles fell to 4-6, and kick off 2007 with a home game on Wednesday against Rutgers-Camden. The Spartans improved to 4-6. ###
