SELINSGROVE, Pa. ? The Juniata College women?s swimming team had dropped four consecutive dual meets entering its MAC dual-meet against Susquehanna Wednesday night, but the Eagles halted that streak in convincing fashion with a 119-79 victory over the Crusaders. The win improved Juniata to 4-6 overall and 3-4 in MAC dual meets. Susquehanna dropped to 3-5 on the year and 3-3 in conference action.

Juniata posted seven first-place individual finishes on the night and earned many points by claiming first, second and third-place sweeps in a pair of events. The first was the 200 freestyle where Amy Sutherland (Norwich/Norwich, N.Y.) earned the win and was followed by Amy Hanson (Lancaster Catholic/Elizabethtown) and Kasey Brough (Carlisle/Gardners) in second and third respectively. The Eagles then posted the top-3 spots in the 100 butterfly with Kristin Musselman (Central Columbia/Bloomsburg) earning the top spot, Brough placing second and Carlie Zoubek (Paul IV/Burke,Va.) claiming third.

Sutherland and Musselman each also added another first-place finish as Sutherland touched the wall first in the 100 backstroke, and Musselman was the winner in the 50 freestyle.

Also earning top finishes on the evening were Rachel Almy (Foxcroft Academy/Charleston, Me.) in the 1,000 freestyle, Jenny Bair (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) in the 400 IM and Collin Thompson (Altoona/Altoona) in the 100 backstroke. Almy added a runner-up effort in the 100 backstroke, while Hanson rounded out Juniata?s top-2 finishes with a second-place effort in the 100 freestyle.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday with another road dual meet at Elizabethtown.
