Westminster, Md. ? The Juniata College women?s volleyball team continued its winning ways as the Eagles earned a pair of 3-0 wins over the College of Notre Dame and Gallaudet University in the opening day of competition at the 24th Annual Green Terror Invitational on the campus of McDaniel College Friday night. Juniata improved to 21-1 with the victories, and will move on to the Championship pool on Saturday.

Juniata dispatched Notre Dame 30-20, 30-19, 30-24 in the early evening, then topped Gallaudet 30-25, 30-19, 30-17 in the nightcap. The victories extended Juniata?s current winning streak to 16, and marked the 11th time during the stretch that the Eagles have earned 3-0 wins.

Against Notre Dame, Katie Laucks (West York/York) enjoyed a solid all-around match as she led the team with 123 kills and three blocks. Stephanie Kines (Towson/Towson, Md.) tossed in five aces for the Eagles in the victory, and Tara McMinn (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) brought up 12 digs.

In the evening match, Kines and Laucks were tops on the squad with nine kills. The duo also both finished with three aces, while setter Beth Kozak (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) also finished with three aces. Kines recorded a team-high four blocks on the night. Kristi Fitzsimmons (Diamond Ranch/Pomona, Ca.) was also strong defensively as she produced seven digs.
