Huntingdon, PA - Juniata College track and field standout Jeremy Weber '05 (Garden Spot/Mohnton) has been selected to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America College Division Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Weber was one of 15 student-athletes selected for the third team, and the honor marks the first Academic All-America selection of his career. Weber becomes the first track and field/cross country Academic All-American Juniata has had in the eight year tenure of Head Track and Field coach Jon Cutright.

Weber capped an outstanding track career this spring by claiming third-place finishes in the long jump at both the MAC Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He also earned NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the long jump in outdoor and indoor competition. His season-best jump of 23' in the outdoor season ranked him 31st in NCAA Division III and was also a career best. The 23' jump was just one inch shy of tying the school record in the long jump. He posted a season-best of 23' ¼" in the long jump during the indoor season. Weber also added a fourth-place finish in the triple jump at the MAC Indoor Championships in his senior year.

Weber's four-year career saw him capture numerous individual awards. Seven times during his career he was named to the All-Conference Team in indoor track and field which comes from placing sixth or better in an event at the conference championships. He added another six All-Conference nods during his career in outdoor track competition which are earned with top-eight efforts at the outdoor championships. He was tabbed as the Juniata male track athlete of the year in 2004.

Weber graduated this spring with a degree in international political economy. He completed his four years with a cumulative GPA of 3.962. He was a member of the Juniata College Honor Society as well as Omni Krom Delta. He was a member of the Dean's List all eight semesters and claimed MASCAC Academic Honor Roll recognition six times. He received the Juniata President Leadership Scholarship during his time at Juniata and is currently studying in Peru after receiving a Fulbright Scholarship.

Weber was selected from a pool of 81 finalists for the Academic All-America Team. Each member of the eight Academic All-District first teams is eligible for the Academic All-America Team. Weber is the fifth Juniata student-athlete to earn a spot on an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team from the 2004-05 academic year. The total of five Academic All-Americans is the most Juniata has ever had in one academic year.

To be nominated for the Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore standing with a 3.2 or higher cumulative GPA and be a starter or significant reserve.
