Juniata 5, Frostburg State 2

Huntingdon, Pa.â?? The Juniata College men's tennis established a new high for wins in a season since the program returned to varsity status in 2002 by topping Frostburg State 5-2 in Huntingdon. The victory improved Juniata to 4-1 on the season, while Frostburg State fell to 1-5 on the year.

Just as they did in their win on Monday Juniata claimed two doubles wins to capture the doubles point, and then swept the third-through-sixth singles matches to post the win.

The team of Jonathan Cohen (Highland Regional/Hollywood, Fla.) and Tom Nelson (State College/State College) earned an 8-1 win at the second doubles spot. Juniata then secured the doubles point with Brian Sykes (Gateway Regional/Woodburry Heights, N.J.) and Romain Plessis (Catholic University of Lille/Lyon, France) claiming an 8-3 win at the third doubles position.

Plessis then registered the most lopsided Juniata singles victory as he shut out his opponent with a 6-0, 6-0 win at sixth singles. Cohen fought through a tough first set and earned a 7-6, 6-0 victory at fourth singles. At the fifth singles, Nelson rebounded after dropping the first set and outlasted his opponent with a 2-6, 7-6, 7-6 win. David Bullock (Central Bucks East/Jamison) rounded out Juniata's singles wins with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at third singles.

In its previous three years of competition, Juniata had never claimed more than three team victories in a season.

Juniata will look for win number five, and its second conference victory, on Wednesday as the Eagles host Commonwealth opponent Lebanon Valley.
