Selinsgrove, Pa. ? For the 24th-consecutive season, the Juniata College women?s volleyball team has made it through a regular season with an unblemished conference record as the Eagles topped Susquehanna University 3-0 in Selinsgrove Tuesday evening. Juniata improved its record to 26-3 overall with the win, and finishes the conference season with a 7-0 mark. Susquehanna is now 19-7 overall and 5-2 in conference play.

Juniata, which won the match by game scores of 30-17, 30-14, 30-17, has already secured the number-one seed for the Commonwealth Conference play-offs which begin next Wednesday. The Crusaders have also sewn up a spot in the postseason. Juniata?s 7-0 conference record runs the team?s conference winning streak to 271 matches.

Juniata controlled the match with its strong service throughout the match. Juniata finished the match with 14 aces, and while Susquehanna?s struggles against the service game led to the home team finishing the match with a .095 hitting percentage. Katie Laucks (West York/York) finished with a team-high five aces, while setter Carli Dale (Cochranton/Cochranton) added four aces.

Dale directed the Juniata offense to a .356 hitting percentage and passed out 33 assists. Laucks was the top attacker for the Blue and Gold, finishing with 11 kills. Katie Charles (Manheim Township/Lancaster) and Amy Ressler (Hempfield/East Petersburg) each had six kills.

Laucks and Charles both posted three blocks to lead Juniata?s defense, while freshman libero Tara McMinn (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) posted a team-high 10 digs in just one game. Abby Leonard (Shade/Johnstown) and Kelly Popernik (Bartlett/Bartlett, Il.) registered eight digs apiece.

Juniata will close its regular season this weekend at the Trinity National Invitational in San Antonio, Texas. The Eagles, currently ranked second in the AVCA Division III coaches poll, will face a pair of nationally ranked teams at the tournament.
