Juniata 3, Seton Hill 0

Greensburg, Pa. ? The Juniata College field team rebounded from its second loss of the season with a 3-0 victory over non-conference opponent Seton Hill in Greensburg Wednesday afternoon. The win improved Juniata?s record to 12-2, while Seton Hill is now 7-10-1 on the year.

Juniata went on top early as Kim Wagner (Middletown/Middletown) scored her team-leading 13th goal of the season just five minutes into the first half. Billie Rickenbaugh (East Juniata/McAlisterville) assisted on the goal.

Rickenbaugh then added a goal of her own five minutes later, and the Eagles had a 2-0 lead with 24:47 remaining in the first half.

The home team had its best chance at the 10-minute mark as Seton Hill was awarded a penalty stroke. But Melonie Sappe? (Dallas/Shavertown) turned away the stroke, preserving the 2-0 lead. It was one of two saves the senior goalie made in the first half.

Juniata increased the offensive pressure in the final 35 minutes, out-shooting Seton Hill 11-1 in the second stanza. That pressure paid off with 23:54 left in the game as Sarah Bender (Eastern York/York) knocked home an insurance goal. Rickenbaugh added her second assist on the final tally.

Sappe? finished with two saves on the match, while Seton Hill keeper Meredith Benson finished with eight saves, five in the second half.

Juniata will return to action on Saturday when the Eagles will play Catholic University of America on the road.
