Professional development for teachers is an important component of the Language in Motion program. Act 48 credit is offered for many of these opportunities.
Language in Motion provides scholarship opportunities through out the year for teachers to attend professional conferences and workshops. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
The Language and Culture Teaching Institute will NOT be held in 2017. We hope to offer it again in August 2018. Please check back.
Up to 12 hours of Act 48 credit for all PA teachers
No charge to attend.
Breakfasts and lunches are included both days.
If anyone is interested in presenting for LCTI, please contact Deb Roney.
At LCTI, teachers who include language and/or culture in their classes share content, activities, theories, and other ideas on the teaching of language and culture. All presenters are experienced teachers as well as faculty from Juniata and other colleges and universities.

Meet the Presenters: Once each semester there is an on-campus workshop for teachers interested in having a presenter in their classes. At this workshop, presenters showcase topic ideas and activities and converse with teachers about expectations and curricular integration. For 2018-19, these will be held on Thurs., Sept. 7, 2017, 4:15-6:15 pm, and on Thurs., Feb. 1 (snow date Mon., Feb. 5), 2018, 4:00-6:00 pm. All Meet the Presenter events are held in Sill Board Room (von Liebig Center for Science 2075).
Public events: Teachers and their students are welcome to attend all internationally oriented public events at Juniata such as the annual international film series, which is free and open to the public.
Special Events: Periodically, Juniata offers special topics workshops. For example, teachers met with Juniata's visiting Fulbright Scholar from Pakistan to expand their knowledge of Pakistani and Middle Eastern culture and politics.
