Assistant Professor of Education
Juniata College, a highly ranked liberal arts college of 1,600 students located in the scenic Allegheny Mountains of central Pennsylvania, invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in teacher education available August 2018. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, teacher preparation, and liberal arts education. Important accomplishments include a strong record of teaching effectiveness and scholarship, a commitment to program development and inclusive teacher education programs, and a desire to contribute to the Education Department and overall life of the College.
Requirements include: Teacher certification in early childhood or elementary education; a doctorate with a primary focus in early childhood, educational leadership, and/or supervision; and a minimum of three years of successful teaching at the early childhood level. Experience supervising student teachers and expertise in literacy and special education are also desirable.
Primary responsibilities include: Teaching early childhood education courses in the PreK-4 certification program and supervising student teachers; supervision of the Director of Juniata College’s NAEYC accredited Early Childhood Education Center, collaboration with the Director and Center staff on program development, implementation, and evaluation; integration of coursework with the Center’s program and supervision of students who are placed there. Advising, service on college committees, participation in community activities, and professional development are also important requirements of full-time faculty at Juniata College.
