Assistant Professor of Art
Juniata College seeks applicants to fill a one-year fixed term position (with possibility of renewal) within the Department of Art & Art History in the area of Digital Art and Photography.
The successful candidate will have an MFA with a primary focus in photography and the ability to teach undergraduate courses in digital and traditional photography, digital art, animation, and a foundation level design and color class (which includes both traditional and digital media components). A regular teaching load will be three undergraduate courses per semester, along with independent studies and senior capstone courses as needed.
Preferred candidates will have teaching experience beyond the graduate assistant level and an active exhibition record at the regional/national level. Candidates should be familiar with current technologies including the Adobe Creative software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Dreamweaver, Premiere Pro, etc.), and other software. Candidates will have experience maintaining and overseeing digital art and photography studios and classrooms, equipment and darkroom, and be familiar with studio lighting equipment. Candidates should have knowledge of New Media and photography history and demonstrate engagement in critical and theoretical issues. Candidates should exhibit interest in integrating emerging technologies into the existing curriculum, contribute to the Studio Art foundations curriculum, and be willing to contribute to curriculum development in the department.
