Biography
Dr. Katie E. Hildebrand joined the Education Department at Juniata College in 2021. She currently teaches undergraduate special education courses including Differentiated Instruction, Adaptations for Students with Exceptionalities, Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Disorders, and Assessment. Most recently, she built Juniata College’s M. Ed. in Special Education which launched in 2022; she serves as the Director of the program and now teaches the Special Education Law and Assessment courses at the graduate level.
Dr. Hildebrand earned her undergraduate degree in Special and Elementary Education from Juniata College in 2001. She then went on to be a special education teacher and worked with students with a variety of special educational needs in northern New Jersey. Hildebrand spent several years in the classroom and opted to pursue graduate school. She attended Penn State University and obtained a PhD in Special Education. Hildebrand graduated in 2008 and then spent 13 years as a teaching faculty member at Penn State. Dr. Hildebrand's research interests include teacher preparation, distance education, and progress monitoring through the use of curriculum-based measures.
