Biography

Dennis Plane became a member of the Juniata College faculty as assistant professor of politics in 2004. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science in 1993 from Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla., and went on to earn a doctoral degree in political behavior and American political institutions in 2002 from the University of Texas in Austin, Texas. Plane previously worked as a visiting assistant professor at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. from 2002 to 2004. He has also taught at the University of Texas at Austin, Austin Community College, and the Summer Program in Quantitative Methods operated by the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research at the University of Michigan. Plane also served as a faculty leader for The Washington Center's academic seminar titled Campaign 2004: The National Political Conventions. He has taught courses in U.S. government, state and local government, public policy, Congress and public opinion. He also can teach courses on public opinion, politics and the media, campaigns and elections, minority politics and research methods. He has presented papers at a variety of professional conferences and has recently published an article in the Journal of Political Behavior about voter turnout in U.S. Senate elections.
