(Posted April 18, 2025)
HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College invites the community to its special day-long showcase of student research known as the Liberal Arts Symposium from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 24.
Established in 2006, this academic tradition provides a forum for students to present their research and classwork to their peers and the community through presentations, panel discussions, poster talks, art exhibits, and musical performances at locations across campus.
All-day events include Studio Art Capstone Exhibition and an exhibit of Student Art Projects at the Juniata College Museum of Art, beginning at 9 a.m.
Special presentations will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering opportunities to engage with a wide range of student-led projects and performances. Highlights include the “Language in Motion Showcase” at 9 a.m., which celebrates cultural exchange and global awareness delivered by Juniata students to area schools and youth organizations; “Building Social Work Practice Competency: Professional Semester Experiences Serving Huntingdon County” at 2 p.m., which demonstrates meaningful student engagement with local social service agencies; and a lively performance by the Screaming Eagles Pep Band at 4 p.m., bringing the day to an energetic close.
Throughout the day, students will present their work in various locations across the Brumbaugh Academic Center and Statton Learning Commons. These presentations span disciplines and mediums—from scientific research to hands-on educational outreach and policy analysis. Topics showcase work with the Huntingdon community, and include “Huntingdon County Agricultural Land Preservation Rankings,” “Full STEAM Ahead! Archaeology in a Box! and “System Modeling to Suggest Hiking Trails,” among many others.
In addition, two research poster presentation sessions will be held in Statton Learning Commons at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
This event is a valuable opportunity for the broader community to see firsthand how Juniata students are applying their academic experiences to real-world challenges, both locally and globally. Community members, local professionals, and families are encouraged to attend and support the next generation of thinkers, creators, and changemakers.
