HUNTINGDON, Pa.–Pennsylvania Business Central has named Juniata College to its list of Top 100 Organizations and selected President James A. Troha for its Top 100 People honor.  

The monthly business journal covers 23 counties in Central Pennsylvania, highlighting the region’s dynamic economic and social fabric. The Top 100 Organizations list honors “dynamic organizations which fuel economic growth, social progress, and technological innovation.” 

“I am honored that our business and news leaders selected Juniata College for this important regional honor. This recognition is an acknowledgment of the quality of a Juniata College education and the excellence of the Juniata College faculty, staff, and students,” said Troha. 

A top 100 liberal arts and sciences college, Juniata prepares students to adapt to change and lead it. More than 1,300 students from all over the world seek out Juniata for its exceptionally strong academic programs in the sciences, business, arts, and humanities. Juniata provides each student with two faculty advisors who guide students with a personalized, interdisciplinary approach to education. The success of this student-faculty partnership has led Juniata to receive national recognition for accessible professors and best classroom experience.  

After receiving nominations from community leaders and local chambers of commerce, Pennsylvania Business Central selected Troha as one of its Top 100 People recognizing individuals who “dream big, expand opportunities, and excel.”  

As Juniata’s 12th president, Troha successfully led the institution through its most successful comprehensive campaign, has helped develop new undergraduate and graduate programs, updated and renovated various campus facilities, and earned more substantial visibility for Juniata’s distinctive identity. He joined Juniata in 2013, after two decades of higher education leadership.   

On the national level, Troha serves on the NCAA Board of Governors, the highest governing body of the NCAA, and chairs the NCAA Division III Presidents Council. He is actively involved in the Huntingdon community, serving on the board of directors for Kish Bank and Kish Bancorp, and Huntingdon County Business and Industry.   

With over 100 student organizations and 24 NCAA Division III athletic teams, and opportunities for study abroad, community-engaged learning, and research, Juniata College students embrace their experience outside of the classroom and in their community of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. This dynamic approach has resulted in 95% of graduates being employed or in graduate school within six months of graduation.
