HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The story of a teen-age girl who struggles with faith and sacrifice, ?A Dress for Mona,? will be staged at Juniata College at 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 30 in the ballroom of Ellis College Center on the Juniata campus.

Admission is $2 for students and $5 for nonstudents. Admission will be collected at the door, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

?A Dress for Mona? recounts the true story of Mona Mahmudnizhad, a young girl from Shiraz, Iran who was martyred in 1982 because of her Bahai faith. The 90-minute drama uses music, shadow, movement and puppetry to raise challenging questions about life faith and sacrifice.

The plot centers on 16-year-old Mona, who has a dream focusing on three dresses. In her dream, each dress represents a path her life might take. In her dream and in her waking life, Mona chooses a path that will lead her into danger.

The play, written by Mark Perry, is performed by the Kingfisher Theatre Company. The company has performed at Lincoln Center in New York City and at the National Theater and White House in Washington, D.C.

The play features three actresses: Sonya Rachel Sier, Nancy Minden and Lisa Michelle Silvers.

The play is sponsored by the Juniata College United Spiritual Council, the Juniata College Department of Religion, and the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Bahai in State College, Pa.
