MEN'S BASKETBALL (13-12, 7-7 Commonwealth):

*Commonwealth Conference game.
Juniata dropped their final two games of the season this past week, and finished the year with a record of 13-12. Juniata lost a two-point heartbreaker to Lebanon Valley in their home season finale. Travis Martin (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) scored a team-high 16 points in the loss, while Tommy McConnell (Bishop Guilfoyle/Hollidaysburg) was also in double figures with 12. The pair also each grabbed a team-high five rebounds. Junior guar Jeff Lau (York Catholic/Glen Rock) was the high scorer in Juniata's season-ending loss to Moravian. Lau netted 16 points on 6-11 shooting. Josh Tyler (Bellwood-Antis/Altoona) grabbed a game-high eight rebounds and chipped in 10 points. McConnell had a game-best four steals to go with three assists. Despite not earning a conference postseason spot, Juniata's 13 wins are the most the program has had since the 1988-89 season.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (9-15, 5-9 Commonwealth):

Juniata finished their season with one win and one loss in the final week. On senior night at Memorial Gym senior Jen LaCount (Westmont Hilltop/Johnstown) matched her career high with 27 points as the Eagles topped Lebanon Valley. Casey Shoup (Altoona/Altoona) and Kelly Steinbeiser (Altoona/Altoona), both seniors, also scored in double figures with 12 points apiece. Jen Uhrich (Palmyra/Palmyra) had a career-best 20 points along with a team-high six rebounds for Juniata. The Eagles lost their final contest of the season at Moravian on Saturday. LaCount again led the way for the Eagles as she scored 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Shoup scored nine points with nine rebounds and four assists in the contest while Steinbeiser chipped in eight points and six boards.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL (8-5, 3-5 EIVA): March 1 at George Mason*.

*EIVA Tait Division opponent.

The Eagles went 1-1 on the week with a win over local rival Saint Francis on the road and loss to Tait Division foe Concordia in five games. Kenny Eiser (Central Bucks West/Doylestown) continued his hot play as he recorded a career-high 27 kills in the win over St. Francis. Eiser had set his previous best of 23 kills just the week before. Ryan Genova (Antietam/Reading) pounded out 12 kills along with a team-high 10 digs. Chris Jones (Lower Merion/Wayne) had 10 kills to go along with six blocks. Scott Kofmehl (North Allegheny/Pittsburgh) passed out a season-high 60 assists and managed a team-best eight blocks and eight digs. Against Concordia the Eagles could not pull out the victory after taking a two of the first three games. Genova led the way with 23 kills, but was the only Eagle in double figures in that department. Eiser, Jones and Neil Lukas (Fairport, N.Y./East Windsor, N.J.) each had nine kills for the Eagles. Jones also had a team-best eight blocks and Eiser added seven blocks for the Eagles. Ricky Ziegler (Northeastern/Manchester) had 46 abets from his setter spot, along with four blocks. Pat Shawaryn (Hempfield/Lancaster) led Juniata with seven digs.

MEN'S & WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD:
The Eagle men's and women's indoor track and field teams were in action at the Susquehanna Open. The meet served as a final tune-up for the Eagles before next weekends MAC Indoor Championships, which will also take place at Susquehanna. On the men's side it was a busy day for senior Dusty Lehr (Bermudian Springs/New Oxford) Lehr showed off his versatility as he earned top-ten finishes in four different events. He raced to a second-place finish in the 55-meter hurdles, placed seventh in the high jump, fourth in the pole vault and 10th in the shot put. Also placing in the top-ten for Juniata was Nick Wolfe (McConnellsburg/McConnellsburg) who finished fourth in the 400-meters and John Boyer (Indian Valley/Belleville) and Jason Boyer (Indian Valley/Belleville) who were ninth and 10th in the triple jump. For the women, four different performers placed in the top-ten for Juniata. Cheryn Courtney (Mercer/Mercer) had the top finish for the Eagles as she placed fourth in the weight throw. The Eagles got some top sprinting performances from Stefanie Rynkewitz (Lewistown/Lewistown) and Meredith Troutman (Meyersdale/Meyersdale) finished eighth in the 55-meter dash and sixth in the 200-meter dash respectively. Kira Troutman (Line Mountain/Valley View) earned the Eagles last top-ten finish by placing seventh in the shot put.
