MEN'S BASKETBALL (8-7, 3-3 Commonwealth): Jan. 27 vs. Dickinson; Jan. 29 at Lebanon Valley*; Feb. 1 vs. Widener*.

The Eagles halted their three-game slide with a mid-week win over Albright, but then dropped a weekend contest with Moravian. Craig Biller (Penn Cambria/Loretto) led the Eagles by matching his career high with 26 points in the win over Albright. Tommy McConnell (Bishop Guilfoyle/Hollidaysburg) added 12 points, with five assists and six steals. Travis Martin (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) also scored in double figures with 11 points. McConnell led the Eagles with 13 points in the loss to Moravian and Josh Tyler (Bellwood Antis/Altoona) was also in double figures with 11 points.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (7-9, 3-3 Commonwealth): Jan. 29 at Lebanon Valley*; Feb. 1 vs. Widener*.

The Eagles won their second and third straight games as they topped Albright and Moravian in Commonwealth Conference action. A last-second shot by Kelly Steinbeiser (Altoona/Altoona) in overtime gave the Eagles the victory over Albright. Jen Uhrich (Palmyra/Palmyra) led the Eagles with 15 points and Casey Shoup (Altoona/Altoona) had 10 for Juniata. Against Moravian, Juniata used a balanced offensive attack as four players scored in double figures. Shoup led the team with 15 points, while Steinbeiser and Jen LaCount (Westmont Hilltop/Johnstown) had 12 points while Uhrich chipped in 11 points. LaCount led the team with seven rebounds, while Gretchen Hall (Cocalico/Denver) passed out a game-high eight assists.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING (9-2, 5-2 MAC): Feb. 1 vs. King's*.

The Eagles earned two more dual meet victories as they topped Susquehanna and Elizabethtown. Alissa Schneider (Mililani/Mililani, Hawaii) and Cynthia Long (Emmaus/Emmaus) each earned three first-place individual finishes, as well as a relay victory. Kim Allen (Susquehanna Twp./Harrisburg) finished first in two individual events on the week, as well as a relay team victory. Kathy Trainor (Upper Merion/King of Prussia) was a member of two winning relay teams, while touching the wall first in one individual event. Kim Dierolf (Boyertown Area/Barto), Amy Hanson (Lancaster Catholic/Elizabethtown), Andrea Nulton (Tyrone Area/Tyrone), Dana Gais (Kiski Area/Saltsburg), and Amy Fletcher (Epherta/Epherta) each also won individual events on the week, while Fletcher and Lauren Chiapetta (St. Charles/St. Charles, Il.) were members of a winning relay team.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL (2-1, 2-1 EIVA): Jan. 29 vs Eastern Mennonite; Feb. 1 vs. East Stroudsburg.

Juniata topped the No. 1 ranked team in Division III according to the preseason American Volleyball Association Coaches poll as they defeated Springfield College in five games. The Eagles followed up that win by topping SUNY New Paltz 3-0. Juniata dropped game one against Springfield, then won games two and three, dropped game four, then rebounded by winning game five 15-10. Juniata was led in both matches by Ryan Genova (Antietam/Reading) who recorded 16 kills against Springfield and 11 kills against New Paltz. Neil Lukas (Fairport, NY/East Windsor, N.J.) and Kenny Eiser (Central Bucks/West Doylestown) each had 12 kills against Springfield, and Lukas had a team-high 11 digs in the victory. Ricky Ziegler (Northeastern/Manchester) had 36 assists against Springfield, and 11 against New Paltz while adding a team-high 10 blocks against Springfield. Scott Kofmehl (North Allegheny/Pittsburgh) had 11 and 20 assists against Springfield and New Paltz respectively.

MEN'S & WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD:

Both Juniata's men's and women's indoor track and field teams were in action at the Susquehanna Invitational. For the men's team, Dusty Lehr (Bermudian Springs/New Oxford) earned two top-ten finishes. Lehr was the top finisher in the men's 55-meter high hurdles, and placed sixth in the pole vault. For the women's team Juniata had four competitors place in the top-ten in individual events. Maria Welch (Jersey Shore/Avis) and Misty Heuston (Martinsburg/Martinsburg) were the Eagles highest finishers as they placed seventh in the pole vault and high jump respectively. Stefanie Rynkewitz (Lewistown/Lewistown) earned a ninth-place finish in the 200-meter dash, and Nancy Hayes (Westminster/Westminster, Md.) placed tenth in the 1500-meter run.
