HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Teya Sepinuck, founder and artistic director of Theatre of Witness, will speak at Juniata College and screen clips from two documentary films in a talk at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29, in Neff Lecture Hall in the von Liebig Center for Science on the Juniata campus.

The event is free and open to the public. The event is sponsored by the Baker Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies.

Sepinuck will talk about the central mission of Theatre of Witness, which stages productions using true-life stories of suffering, violence and human rights violations that are told by the people who experienced these incidents. The productions are scripted from individual and group interviews and use spoken word, music, movement, imagery and video projection to illuminate incidents of tragedy.

The presentation will focus on showing clips from two documentary films about Theatre of Witness and then Sepinuck will discuss how such theatrical productions can transform conflict.

Theatre of Witness has staged productions in the United States, Poland and Northern Ireland. Performers in the productions have been refugees, immigrants, survivors, soldiers, prisoners, teen parents, people in recovery and teenage runaways.
