HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College football seniors Andrew Masullo (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte), Jason Marquis (Jeannette, Pa./Jeannette), and Willie Reich (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) have been team named captains by head coach Tim Launtz for the 2011 season.

"As a coach, you always hope that your best players have the leadership skills and character necessary to be the team captains and leaders of Juniata men. With the elected of Andy, Jason and Willie, our players completely understand how important these traits are for the success of their team," said Launtz. "The three student-athletes elected captains of this year's football team are Juniata men of great character and integrity, for they have the positive attributes to get others to follow them in good times and bad."

Masullo is a three-year letterwinner for the Eagles, and finished the 2010 season with 36 total tackles, including 21 assisted, over nine games at defensive back. He also recorded a pair of interceptions last season. As a kicker during the 2009 season, Masullo had 22 kicks for 1118 yards, an average of 50.8 yards per kickoff.

Marquis has been a mainstay of the Juniata defensive line since his arrival on College Hill. A former All-State player at Jeannette High School, Marquis enters his senior campaign with 155 total tackles, 94 of those unassisted, with 17.0 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. He also has five fumble recoveries and two fumbles forced over his first three seasons at Juniata.

Reich has battled through injuries for much of his first three seasons at Juniata, having seen action in just 17 games over the last three years. He saw action in nine games in 2009, his sophomore season, and recorded one tackle.

"These three Juniata men form the foundation for their teammates by displaying character above all else, and by having fierce Juniata pride. Andy, Jason and Willie are unselfish, hardworking, disciplined Juniata men, who have a passion for the game and a commitment to the collective success of their teammates both on the field and off. The 2011 captains are Juniata men that will leave this program better than they found it because of their core values."

Juniata opens its 2011 season under first-year head coach Tim Launtz on Saturday, Sept. 3, when the Eagles host Washington & Jefferson College. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Knox Stadium.
