HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College men's basketball cruised past Penn State Mont-Alto, 82-61, in its 2010-11 home debut Friday evening in the annual Doc Greene tournament in Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center.

The Eagles came out strong to gain an early lead and maintain it throughout the first half, totaling 39-32 at the end of the first half buzzer, only to gain a larger lead in the second half.

Three Juniata players scored in the double digits. Austin Ankney (Somerset, Pa./Somerset) led the offense with 20 points on 10-10 shooting from the field. Dan Sekulski (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone Area) recorded 18 points shooting 9-12 in 29 minutes of play.

Newcomer Pat Cassidy (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) also had an impressive game, shooting 6-8 from the floor and tallying 14 points off the bench. Cassidy snuck in a layup off of his rebound in the last second of the first half to put the Eagles up an extra two points.

Tim Berguson (Mansfield, Pa./Mansfield) and Bruce Knowles (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) each grabbed five rebounds.

The Lions were led by Kevin Onyneaka with 19 points, who shot 3-6 from behind the arch. Daniel Smay tallied 12 total points on offense.

Penn State Mont Alto turned the ball over 22 times while Juniata turned the ball over 14 times.

The consolation match between Penn State Mont Alto and Montclair State will be held at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow. Juniata and Salisbury will play in the championship match at 4:00 p.m.
