CALIFORNIA, Pa. -- Juniata College women's volleyball defended its brand new number one ranking in Division III by knocking off Division II California University of Pennsylvania, 3-0, Tuesday night at Hamer Hall.

Set scores for Juniata were 25-22, 25-17, and 25-16.

Juniata (24-3) middle hitter Kristin Noetzel (Closter, N.J./Northern Valley Regional) led the Eagles with 10 kills, while pin hitters Drew Barnhart (Titusville, Pa./Titusville) and Kelsey Fuller (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) logged nine kills each.

Middle hitter Amanda Schmidt (Boswell, Pa./North Star) and setter Steph Strauss (Verona, Pa./Penn Hills) each had three blocks for the Eagles, while libero Libby Morrison (Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal School) had 16 digs.

The match served as a final tune up for this weekend's Wid Guisler Invitational hosted by Juniata, which boasts a field that includes three of the top five teams in Division III women's volleyball. Top-ranked Juniata will host fourth-ranked Emory University on Friday night at 8:00 p.m., followed by matches against Williams College (Mass.) and fifth-ranked Eastern University on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. respectively.
