HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College righthander Stacy Nagy (Millerton, Pa./Troy) scattered three hits with three strikeouts to lead the Eagles to a 4-2 win over Drew University, allowing Juniata to take a split out of its Landmark Conference doubleheader against the Rangers on Saturday afternoon at Weaver Park Field.

Drew (7-13, 1-3 Landmark) upended Juniata 5-3 in game one of the twinbill.

Juniata (12-7, 2-2 Landmark) manufactured single runs in the second, third, fourth, and fifth innings, piecing together the occasional hit, some sacrifices, and taking advantage of Drew errors.

In the second, Kelsey Shutt (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) reached on a fielding error by the center fielder, and later scored on a double steal of home and second. Rachel Nagy (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) got aboard on a fielding error at first with one out in the third, and crossed the plate after the next three Juniata batters all drew walks.

A Sarah Eckard (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) leadoff single to open the Juniata fourth eventually produced another run, when she was plated on a Rachel Nagy base hit to left field. Allison Gerlach (Mesa, Ariz./Marcos de Niza) scored Shutt on a ground out to second base in the fifth, after Shutt reached on a single up the middle.

Meanwhile, Stacy Nagy kept the Rangers in check in her seven-inning effort, including getting out of the Drew sixth on four pitches.

Both Ranger runs crossed in the fourth inning, as Nicole Spiotta got aboard on a passed ball third strike that allowed Katie Eggert to score. Eggert reached on a one-out single earlier in the frame. Spiotta later scored on Jillian Lusk's triple to right field.

Nagy improved to 5-2 with the complete game win, while Drew starter Adriana Durso took the loss. Durso allowed all four Juniata runs, only one of which was earned, while walking seven and striking out four.

Eckard had two hits in the second game, while Rachel Nagy, Caley McCool (Spring Mills, Pa./Penns Valley), Shutt, and Steph Frith (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) each logged a hit apiece.

In game one, Drew jumped on starter Alyssa Erb (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) for two runs in the first inning, thanks to RBI singles by Eggert and Spiotta.

Juniata rallied with one run in the bottom of the frame, when Eckard got aboard with an infield single to third and later scored on Jen O'Neill's (Sayville, Pa./Sayville) double down the left field line.

Drew began putting some distance between itself and Juniata with a pair of runs in the third, and a single run in the fourth. Jackie Mannino placed a single down the right field line to score both Ranger runs in the third. In the fourth, a one out grounder back to the pitcher was thrown well over the base at first, allowing Brenda Kramer to score. Kramer reached on a bunt single to open the inning.

The Eagles cut the margin to 5-3 with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, but could get no closer to catching the Rangers.

Durso pitched the complete game win for the Rangers in game one, allowing just two earned runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

Erb took the loss for her six complete innings of work, yielding five earned runs on eight hits but fanning five Ranger batters. Stacy Nagy came on in relief of Erb in the seventh.

Eckard had a perfect 4-for-4 effort at the plate in game one, accounting for over half of Juniata's hits. Amanda Gerlach (Mesa, Ariz./Marcos de Niza), Rachel Nagy, and O'Neill collected the remaining Eagles hits.

Rachel Nagy had singles in each of Saturday's games, extending her consecutive games hitting streak to 11 games.

Juniata returns to action on Wednesday, April 7, when it hosts Elizabethtown College in a doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m. on Weaver Park Field.
