HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Senior forward Brandy Preslovich (Bald Eagle Area/Moshannon), a member of the Juniata College women's basketball team, capped the College Hill basketball 2001-02 season and her career, by earning a spot on the Commonwealth Conference First Team. Teammate Kelli Young (United/Vintondale), a senior guard, earned second-team honors for her duties at point guard. It marks the first time Juniata has had two players named to the conference all-star team in the same season since the 1979-80 campaign, when Nancy Zinkman and Julie George made the squad as a forward and center, respectively.

In addition, it is the second straight year that Preslovich has earned first-team laurels on the hardwood during her collegiate career. The last time that happened for a Juniata performer came after the 1991-92 and 1992-93 campaigns when Annette Hoffman earned the honors.

During her softball career, Preslovich, a shortstop, has been tabbed as a first-team Commonwealth selection during her first three seasons at Juniata.

Joining Preslovich on this year's Commonwealth first team include junior guard/forward Christina Vouriotis (Messiah), junior forward Stephanie Tighe (Lebanon Valley), junior guard Amie Kretzing (Messiah) and junior guard Tara Wozniak (Moravian).

Preslovich finished the season ranked first on the team in scoring with 16.4 points per game and she was first on the club in rebounds per outing (7.5). In addition, she was second on the team in steals (52) and blocked shots (24). Preslovich connected on 47 percent of her shots from the floor (172 of 363) this winter and 72.6 percent of her tosses from the charity stripe (82 of 113).

Her 426 total points tie her for sixth on the College Hill single-season chart.

On the Commonwealth individual statistical charts, Preslovich finished the year ranked second in scoring average, third in field goal percentage, sixth in rebounding average, ninth in blocked shots per game (.92) and 10th in free throw percentage. She was named the Commonwealth Player of the Week on two separate occasions, including the stretches of November 26 through December 2 and January 28 through February 3.

For the year, Preslovich scored in double figures in 24 of the 26 games that she played, including the final 24 outings of the season. She matched her personal best of 25 points in a win over Susquehanna on January 8, a game in which she also pulled down 11 rebounds. She grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds, while netting 21 points, in a loss to conference champion Messiah on January 29. Overall, she had six double-doubles, including a span of three straight at one point.

Preslovich became only the eighth women's player in Juniata history, to ever reach the 1,000-point plateau on November 28. She ended her career ranked in the top-10 in the following Juniata women's basketball career charts: third in scoring (1,377), fifth in rebounding (801), fourth in steals (210) and fourth in blocked shots (77).

Juniata completed the year with a 12-14 overall record and an 8-6 mark in Commonwealth play. Preslovich also helped lead the Eagles to their third straight appearance in the conference playoffs, before falling in the Commonwealth semifinals to Lebanon Valley.
