Juniata College sophomore forward Ben Gallagher (Butler/Butler) was tabbed as the Commonwealth Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday. It is the first time this winter that he has earned the honor. In addition, on Tuesday, he was honored as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Southern Division III Player of the Week.

Gallagher averaged 25.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists a contest during a 1-1 week for Juniata during the past seven-day stretch.

He tallied 24 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, two steals and a blocked shot during an 80-72 home loss to Susquehanna on Tuesday. Gallagher connected on 60 percent of his tries from the field (9 of 15) and was 6 of 6 from the foul line.
On Saturday night, he came back with 27 points on 10 of 15 shooting during an 80-62 triumph over Albright. Gallagher pulled down eight rebounds and had seven assists and four steals against the Lions. He was also five of eight from the foul line and knocked down two three pointers against the Lions.

Overall, he nailed 63 percent of his shots on the week (19 of 30) and was 2 of 4 from three-point land. Gallagher was also a 79 percent free throw shooter (11 of 14).

For the season, Gallagher leads Juniata in scoring average (14.4) and is second on the club in rebounds per contest (5.8) average. He has knocked down 47 percent of his tries from the field (105 or 223). In addition, Gallagher is hitting on 71 percent of his tosses from the charity stripe (93 of 131) and is first on the squad in steals (40) and is second on the team in assists (50). The Eagles, who are 10-12 overall and 3-9 in the Commonwealth, will be back in action on Tuesday evening when they travel to Lebanon Valley for an 8:00 p.m. outing.
