HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Juniata College baseball team pulled ahead in the eighth inning to claim a 4-2 victory over Oswego State, Monday afternoon in Huntingdon, Pa. Jay Enoch (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) grabbed the win, pitching all nine innings to improve his record to 3-2. He fanned 14 batters to reach his season high in strikeouts, and was one off his career high of 15, set during his freshmen season. The Eagles went into a scoreless second inning when Steve Wilk (Blairsville, Pa./Blairsville) homered over the left field fence with no runners on. Juniata's second run crossed the plate in the third inning when Dan Kauffman (Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor) hit a solo home run over the center field fence. This homer was his seventh for the season, tying the number he hit from 2007. Oswego responded in the fifth with back-to-back doubles by Dan Pecora and Mike Levy. Levy's double sent Pecora home, while Zach Owen had an RBI single, scoring Levy. With the game tied, 2-2, Wilk reached after getting hit by a pitch, later scoring on a passed ball. With one out, Andrew Kriss flied out to centerfield, scoring Shawn McDonald (Pittsburgh, Pa./Bishop Carroll) who reached on a fielder's choice. Kauffman went 2-for-2 at the plate against Oswego, making it his third consecutive game where he has been perfect at the plate. Over the last three games, Kauffman has gone 7-for-7 with four walks and one hit by pitch. John Martinez (Mt. Union, Pa./Mt. Union) went 1-for-2 at the plate with one double, his fourth for the season. Juniata returns to action on Fri., March 28 at 2:00 p.m. when they travel to Washington, Pa., to compete against Washington & Jefferson College. -30-
