HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Dancer, singer and poet K.J. Holmes will conduct a series of workshops in the dance style known as contact improvisation at Juniata College from 7 to 10 p.m. Aug. 31, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 1, and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept 2 in Oller Hall on the Juniata campus.

The workshops are free and open to the public.

Contact improvisation is a dance form in which the participants must always remain in contact or touching while improvising movements.

Based in Brooklyn, N.Y., Holmes has performed and taught at such venues as the Bates Dance Festival, Festival Internacional de danza in San Luis Potisi, Mexico and the Seattle Festival of Alternative Dance.

She has created several solo works, including "Birdcage," "Akaska," and "Captured Channels." Her choreography for groups include the works "Wreckage" and "Constellation."
