Malino is currently a senior with a Program of Emphasis in Spanish & Hispanic Cultures. He chose Juniata College because of its small size, which he knew would provide him the opportunity for individualized learning. He also knew he would have the unique opportunity to explore both his Spanish language and science interests.
His most memorable experiences from his time at Juniata College were his experiences studying abroad. Malino had the chance to study abroad twice in Mexico: Orizaba for 10 weeks during the summer and Guanajuato for a full semester. Malino said that these experiences allowed him to fully immerse himself in the culture by preparing and eating local foods, forming friendships with local people, participating in cultural events and holidays, and traveling across the country.
Furthermore, as a campus tour guide and a Spanish tutor, Malino has been able to give back to other students by giving insights based on his own experiences at Juniata. His plan is to use his academic knowledge and experiences to apply to optometry school and continue to serve his community.
