The Juniata College Choral Union will present "Lord Nelson Mass," by Franz Josef Haydn, at its spring concert at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, in Rosenberger Auditorium in Oller Hall on the Juniata College campus.

Tickets – $5 general admission – will be available at the door.

The choral union will perform with a full orchestra. Russell Shelley, Juniata College assistant professor of music and chair of the music department, will conduct.

Four soloists will perform with the Choral Union:

· Soprano soloist Elisa Matthews, a graduate assistant in music at Penn State University, was music director of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in State College from 1998 to 2000. She earned a master's degree in voice performance from Penn State in 2000. She has been a featured soloist in opera's staged by the Penn State Opera Theatre.

· Alto soloist Janice Miller recently earned a master’s degree in voice performance and pedagogy at Penn State, where she has performed the roles of the witch in "Hansel and Gretel," and Flora, the witch, in the world premiere of Bruce Trinkley’s "Dido Decides." As a professional soloist, she has performed more than 40 oratorio roles in New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania, and has been a soloist with the State College Choral Society and the Pennsylvania Chamber Chorale.

· Richard Kennedy, tenor soloist, has performed with the Boston Symphony, the American Chamber Orchestra and symphony orchestras in Utah, Charlotte, N.C., Richmond, Va., Green Bay, Wis. and Wheeling, W.Va. He is an associate professor of voice at Penn State University. He has appeared as a soloist at a variety of choral concerts throughout the United States, and was an international finalist in the Opera Company of Philadelphia/Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition.

· James R. White, bass soloist, teaches voice at Juniata and has been a frequent soloist with the Choral Union. White earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Findlay (Ohio) and a master's degree from Colgate Rochester Divinity School. He is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.

The Choral Union is the largest choral ensemble at Juniata with a student membership of more than 90 and more than 50 members from communities in the Huntingdon area. The Juniata Choral Union traditionally performs larger choral works.
