HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Juniata College Fruit and Wine Club will host an Open Market featuring local art, produce, and homemade goods from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., every Saturday from Aug. 24 through Nov. 16 at the Sill Business Incubator on the site's rear grass lot.

The Market will provide a venue for Juniata College students and community members to sell their work and raise money for the Fruit and Wine Club. To rent a space, each person or organization must make a $5 donation per week. There is no formal approval process to participate in the market, although no yard sale goods are permitted.

"I decided to take on this venture because it would allow Juniata students to be more involved within the local community," says Anshu Chawla , a senior from Fairport, N.Y., who serves as the Fruit and Wine Club president.

Chawla, a business management major, is organizing Juniata's first Open Market to promote sustainability and encourage students to develop their entrepreneurial skills.

"It will also provide farmers and vendors another day to sell their produce and crafts," says Chawla.
