KINGS POINT, N.Y. -- In its Landmark Conference opener last Saturday, Sept. 24 men's soccer fell 2-0 against the Mariners at the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

Juniata (2-3-0) managed five shots in the match, with sophomore forward Dane Azeles (Duncansville, Pa./Hollidaysburg) charting three and the only two shots-on-goal for the Eagles.

Merchant Marine (6-2-0) first got on the board in the 60th minute off a Casey Desiderio corner kick and a Josh Reicks pass to Kurt Olsen for the game winner. In the 84th minute Mariner Tim Anthone put up a security goal assisted by Andrew MacKenzie with Kyle Arestivo recording the second assist.

Junior goalkeeper Ezra Cassel (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) played all 90 minutes for Juniata and recorded six saves in the contest.

The Eagles return to Winton Hill Field on Tuesday, Sept. 27 for a 4:00 p.m. contest against Grove City College.
