HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Senior slugger Johnny Martinez (Mount Union, Pa./Mount Union) earned the nod as Landmark Conference Player of the Year and was named to First Team All-Landmark Conference for the second year in a row, while Matt Regan (Downingtown, Pa./Devon Prep) was named to the All-Landmark second team for his efforts on the mound this season, when the All-Landmark squads were unveiled Wednesday afternoon.

Martinez started in the outfield and at first base in all 37 games in his senior year. The four-year starter finished with a .370 career batting average. Martinez ranked second among all-time leaders with 36 doubles, fifth all-time with 119 RBI, and second all-time with 174 hits. He finished the 2011 season batting .382, with 110 at-bats, 42 hits, 31 runs, 28 RBI, and a .992 fielding percentage. Martinez hit 15 home runs in his career and five this season alone.

In the Landmark Conference, he ranked fourth in batting average (.382), third in slugging percentage (.609), first in on base percentage (.533), fifth for homeruns (5), and first for walks (31).

Regan ranked second all-time among Juniata leaders for single-season strikeouts with 66 in the 2011 season, with another year of eligibility left. He ranked first in the conference for both batters struck out and batters struck out looking (33). He finished the season second in the league for his opposing batting average (.224). Regan logged a 5.05 earned run average this season in nine appearances, nine starts and 57 innings of work.

He opened the season striking out ten batters in the 6-4 victory against Oneonta State on Mar. 12, and closed the season on a high note, striking out ten more against the University of Scranton on Apr. 30.

Juniata completed its 2011 campaign with a 16-21 overall record, 6-10 in the Landmark Conference.
