HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College senior outside hitter Chris Vrooman (Baden, Pa./Ambridge Area) has been named EIVA Hay Division Player of the Week, for the week ending February 20, 2011.

Vrooman was Juniata's top hitter last week, posting a .378 attack percentage and logging 21.5 points as the Eagles posted a win and a loss to EIVA opponents.

Against archrival Springfield College on Friday night, Vrooman hit .421 with 10 kills against only two errors on 19 swings. He also had a hand in two blocks with five digs against the fourth-ranked Pride. In Saturday's matchup versus Harvard University, Vrooman tallied nine terminations on 18 attacks for a .333 hitting percentage.

The Hay Division Player of the Week honor is the second this season for Vrooman, who previously won the award on January 17.

Vrooman currently ranks second on the team with 2.92 kills per set and a .299 attack percentage through 17 matches. He is also second on the squad with 12 service aces.

Juniata (11-6, 4-0 EIVA Hay) embarks on a three-match road swing this weekend, traveling to Illinois to face Loyola University and Lewis University on Friday and Saturday nights. The Eagles will stop in Columbus, Ohio, on Sunday afternoon on to face Ohio State at St. John Arena.
