HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- With all the wins and losses among the top ten teams in Division III women's volleyball last week, "who knows" and a shoulder shrug was about the best that could be hoped for in predicting where Juniata College would land in this week's poll.

As it turns out, the Eagles dropped only one spot, from the top spot down to second, when the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III coaches poll was released Tuesday afternoon.

Juniata (11-1) received six first place votes and 570 points in the poll, just two points behind new number one Wisconsin-Oshkosh with 12 first place votes. Emory University was ranked third with 559 points and two first place votes, with Ohio Northern and Washington-St. Louis tied in fourth place with 523 points. Each received two first place votes.

Rounding out the top ten was St. Thomas, Minn. (470 pts.), Carthage (465), Hope (436), Wittenberg (356), and Calvin (336).

Juniata downed previously sixth-ranked St. Thomas last week, as well as 18th-ranked University of La Verne, but fell to seventh-ranked Washington-St. Louis in three sets on the Bears' home court.

Juniata has just one match against a Division III opponent on the schedule this week; the Eagles will host 21st-ranked Haverford College on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 7:00 p.m. at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center.
