HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College softball pounded out a combined 16 runs on 24 hits on its way to a doubleheader sweep of Lycoming College by scores of 7-0 and 9-1, Tuesday afternoon at Weis Field.

Juniata (13-5) broke open a tight 2-0 contest in game one with five runs in the fifth inning. The Eagles opened the frame with singles by Denalyn Spratt (Haddon Heights, N.J./Haddon Heights), Sarah Eckard (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg), and Tara Carl (Duke Center, Pa./Otto-Eldred), followed by a two-run single by Stacy Nagy (Millerton, Pa./Troy).

Rachel Nagy (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) plated two more with a single that drove in Stacy Nagy and Carl. Rachel Nagy eventually crossed on a sac fly to center field by Melissa Moffat (Oceanside, Calif./Oceanside).

Starter Alyssa Erb (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) fanned 12 Lycoming batters in a two-hit performance, improving her record to 8-4.

In game two, Juniata opened with two runs in the first on an Eckard single and an RBI double by Carl, while Carl was singled home by Rachel Nagy.

Two more Juniata runs were scored in the second on three singles, a wild pitch, and an error by the Lycoming center fielder. The Eagles added another three runs in the third on four hits and two Warrior errors, including RBI singles by Liz Schmitt (Knoxville, Tenn./H. Frank Carey, N.Y.) and Caley McCool (Spring Mills, Pa./Penns Valley).

Another two-run uprising by the Eagles in the sixth, with runs scored on a Rachel Nagy single and a bases loaded walk taken by Lindsay Darchicourt (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs), cut the game short on the 'eight run rule'.

Eagle freshman Pam Heinrichs (Spring Mills, Pa./Penns Valley) posted the complete game victory, scattering five hits and allowing one walk while striking out four Warriors.

Juniata returns to action on Wednesday, April 1, when it faces Mount Aloysius College at 3:00 p.m. in Cresson, Pa.
