HUNTINGDON, Pa. ? The Juniata College women?s tennis team was able to rebound from a tough conference loss earlier in the week by topping non-conference Saint Francis (Pa.) by a 6-3 score Friday afternoon. Juniata raised its record to 5-3 with the victory, including a perfect 4-0 mark in non-conference matches on the year. Juniata did the majority of its damage in the bottom parts of the singles and doubles lineups as it earned two wins in doubles action and then swept the 3-through-6 singles matches. On the doubles courts Aggie Kwon (Cumberland Valley/Enola) and Amanda Fontana (Trinity/Mechanicsburg) teamed for an 8-4 win at second doubles. That was matched by the third doubles pairing of Molly Coursey (Westminster/Hanover) and Liana James (Boulder/Boulder, Colo.) who rolled to an 8-1 win at third doubles. The toughest outing was at sixth singles where Ariel Otruba (Mansfield/Mansfield) rebounded from a tough second set to claim a 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 victory. Juniata won in straight sets at third, fourth and fifth singles. Wolenter eased to a 6-1, 6-0 win at the third spot, and Kwon also won a set without dropping a game as she was a 6-4, 6-0 winner at fourth singles. Coursey rounded out the wins with her 6-3, 6-2 fifth-singles win. Juniata?s next match will be on the road against Commonwealth Conference foe Susquehanna on Tuesday. ###
