Where is the Counseling Center?
We are located on the second floor of 1622 Moore Street, across the road from the Stone Church. Our mailing address is: Juniata College Counseling Center, 1700 Moore Street, Huntingdon, PA 16652
What are your hours?
Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Additional hours are available by appointment.
How do I make an appointment?
Who can go to the Counseling Center?
All full time students can come to the Counseling Center. We deal with a wide range of issues involving your adjustment to college life as well as more complex problems. Anyone who wants to talk about anything with a counselor should make an appointment to come in.
What is involved in counseling?
Student sit down with a counselor to talk about problems and what can be done to remedy and/or deal with the situation. Your counselor will listen and help you to clarify your own thoughts, rather than making decisions for you or giving advice.
How long may I remain in counseling?
Students are allowed ten free sessions per academic year. If more intensive therapy is needed, the Counseling Center will refer students to private therapists in the area.
Are visits to the Counseling Center confidential?
All visits to the Counseling Center are confidential. A counselor may only talk to parents if the stuent specifically authorizes it or if there is an imminent risk of danger or voilence. No one else on campus will have knowledge of the student's visit to the Counseling Center without the student's explicit permission. Our files are kept separate from your college files and are destroyed seven years after graduation.
