Fulbright Awards

Kyle Louder ’23 has received a Fulbright English Teaching Award to Bulgaria. He will serve as an English Teaching Assistant (ETA) at the Dr. Prof. Asen Zlatarov Foreign Language High School in Haskovo, Bulgaria. The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) programs place individuals in classrooms abroad to assist local English teachers.

Taylor Metz ’23 has received a Fulbright English Teaching Award to Spain. She will teach elementary students in the Canary Islands, a Spanish archipelago off the coast of northwestern Africa. The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) programs place individuals in classrooms abroad to assist local English teachers.

 


 

Boren Award and Gilman Scholarship

Elijah Weaver ’24

Elijah Weaver ’24 received a David L. Boren Scholarship and a Benjamin Gilman Scholarship to study at Shih Hsin University in Taipei, Taiwan, for the 2023–2024 academic year. The Boren Awards is a prestigious language program funded by the National Security Education Program (NSEP) and managed by the Institute of International Education. The Gilman Scholarship is named for Benjamin Gilman, a Republican U.S. Representative from New York, and offers grants for undergraduate students to study abroad.

 


 

St. Andrews Scholarship

Jacob Wallman ’24

Jacob Wallman ’24 was awarded the St. Andrews Scholarship from the St. Andrews Society of Philadelphia and will attend the University of Glasgow in the 2023– 2024 academic year. Only a handful of students from 30 participating colleges and universities in Pennsylvania are selected to attend one of the four participating universities in Scotland—each known as “Scotland’s Ivies”—for one year.

 


 

Newman Civic Fellow

Yoselin Kearney ’24

Yoselin Kearney ’24 has been named a Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact, a Boston-based nonprofit organization working to advance the public purposes of higher education. She is one of 154 student civic leaders from across the United States who will comprise the organization’s 2023–2024 cohort of fellows. The Newman Civic Fellowship, named for Campus Compact co-founder Frank Newman, is a one-year experience emphasizing personal, professional, and civic growth.

Brian Standfest ’23

Brian Standfest ’23 was recognized as the 2022 JoAnne Day Student of the Year in the Liberal Arts category by PennACE (the Pennsylvania Association of Colleges and Employers). Named for the late JoAnne Day in honor of her passion for education and commitment to students, the award recognizes the achievements and contributions made by undergraduate students who have completed internships.
