MEN?S BASKETBALL (6-5, 0-2 Commonwealth): Jan. 13 vs. Elizabethtown*; Jan. 17 at Moravian*.

The Juniata College men?s basketball team split a pair of games on the week, posting a 91-77 victory over Villa Julie, and dropped a contest against Division I opponent Colgate. Craig Biller (Penn Cambria/Loretto) led Juniata with 26 points in their victory. Travis Martin (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) notched a season-high 21 points in the game, while Jeff Lau (York Catholic/Glen Rock) was also in double figures with 11 points. Nick Hager (Franklin/Franklin) was tops on Juniata with eight rebounds and six assists. Against Colgate, Juniata had a pair of players in double figures, led by Martin who scored 11 points. Chris Jasiota (Oil City/Oil City) added 10 for the Eagles. Greg Ebert (Forbes Road/Waterfall) and Travis Boyd (Juniata Valley/Barree) each posted five rebounds, and Biller led the team five four assists.

WOMEN?S BASKETBALL (3-9, 0-2 Commonwealth): Jan. 14 vs. Elizabethtown*; Jan 17 at Moravian*.

Juniata played three games on the week, and saw a similar result each time as Juniata battled their opponent to the end before falling late. In their first game, a 68-60 set-back to Lycoming, Janine Smeltz (Line Mountain/Herndon) scored a team-high 14 points off the bench. Kristen Kirk (Newport/Newport) and Jen Uhrich (Palmyra/Palmyra) each had 10 points in the game. Katie O?Brien (Southwestern/Hanover) had nine rebounds, while Collen McShane (Gloucester City/Gloucester, N.J.) had five assists with each leading the team.

McShane was then the top offensive option for Juniata in their contests against Bethany College as she netted a career-high 20 points while adding another six assists. Kirk and Uhrich were again in double figures with 12 points apiece, and Uhrich notched her fourth ?double-double? of the year as she grabbed 11 rebounds. Finally, Kirk scored a team-best 17 points in Juniata?s contest against Grove City. Kirk scored in double figures in all three games on the week for Juniata. Freshman Dana Reist (Manheim Central/Manheim) added 10 points for Juniata in the 59-56 loss. Uhrich led the team with nine rebounds, compiling 25 boards on the week, and also led the team with four assists.
