HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Juniata College Choral Union will present a concert featuring music from the Baroque period, including selections by Bach and Vivaldi, at its spring concert at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, in Rosenberger Auditorium in Oller Hall on the Juniata College campus.

There is a $5 general admission charge. Tickets are available at the door.

The Choral Union is conducted by Russell Shelley, Elma Stine Heckler Associate Professor of Music.

The program will open with "Le Quattro Stagioni," by Antonio Vivaldi, followed by Vivaldi's "Credo." The choral union will then perform "Cantata No. 150, Nach dir, Herr, verlanget mich," by Johann Sebastian Bach. Four soloists will perform during the Bach selection: soprano Emily Reyes, a 1997 Juniata graduate; mezzo soprano Janice Miller, a soloist with the State College Choral Society and the Pennsylvania Chamber Choral; tenor Shane Fuhrman, a freshman from Lebanon, Pa., and bass Graham Gant, a freshman from Millville, N.J.

The choral union also will perform Vivaldi's "In Exitu Israel" and "Beatus Vir," featuring soloists Reyes, Miller and Lorenn Schouppe-Wright, a 1993 Juniata graduate.

Violist Rosalyn Troiano and the Choral Union chamber orchestra will perform the selection "Viola Concerto in G Major," by Georg Philipp Teleman. Troiano is a lecturer in music at Juniata College. She is a member of the Chagall String Quartet and earned her doctorate in music in 2000 from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y.

The Choral Union is the largest choral ensemble at Juniata with a student membership of more than 100 and more than 30 members from communities in the Huntingdon area. The Juniata Choral Union traditionally performs larger choral works.
