Juniata College's Campus Technology Services will sponsor a series of public events designed to call awareness to cyber security threats as part of National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

All events listed here are open to the public.
On Oct. 14, cyber security expert Lancer Spitzner will present a Webcast, "Securing Your Kids Online," at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 14, in Sill Boardroom in the von Liebig Center for Science. Spitzner is the founder of the Honeynet Project and has more than 20 years experience in cyber security.

Also on Oct. 14, Pennsylvania State Police Officer Jeffrey Petucci, a 1992 Juniata graduate, will present the talk "Staying Safe Online," at 7 p.m., Wednesday, in Sill Boardroom.

Petucci will address all age groups in his talk, which focuses on safe computer practices. Petucci joined the sate police in 1993. After working as a patrol trooper for 12 years, he currently is a public information officer in the Community Service Office.

On Oct. 19, the college will screen the film, "Now You See Me," rated PG-13, at 7 p.m., Saturday, in Alumni Hall in the Brumbaugh Academic Center. The film uses as a plot point computer-generated illusions that are used by the protagonists for illegal gain.

David Damato, chief security officer at Tanium, an endpoint security solutions company, will speak on "Hunting for Hackers," at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30, in Neff Lecture Hall in the von Liebig Center for Science.

Damato, a 2002 Juniata graduate, will describe hacker personality types, hacker motivations and detail Damato's experience oin responding to more than 100 real-world security breaches.

Before coming to Tanium, Damato most recently served as managing director at Mandiant, a FireEye company, where his team led incident response and post-breach remediation efforts at over 100 Fortune 500 companies. Damato also led security consulting teams at PwC as part of its Washington Federal Practice.
